Quanta 5 - Prêt-à-porter Solution from InfiNet Wireless
A couple of weeks ago, I was part of one of the hundreds of attendees of (first-of-its-kind) Infinet Wireless Online Conference, which featured their latest product developments and road map.
In a great little over an hour, Infinet kept my attention completely, showing us the best of the best in wireless, through an interactive event, specially designed to keep the customer base updated on the company news and progress, during these challenging times.
Infinet's Quanta Family: High-Performance Wireless Solutions for Various Needs
During this event, Infinet presented their Quanta family of solutions, including the Quanta 5, the Point-to-Point solution with a record-breaking spectral efficiency in the 5 GHz band, as well as highlighted some of its recent and successful deployments around the world. They also introduced Quanta 6, their newer family member for the 6 GHz frequency bands, a solution which has inherited many of its features from the Quanta 5. This new PTP family also includes the Quanta 70, which enables to connect VIP customers in big cities and provide them with fiber-like service.
I was really impressed with everything but I would like to highlight here what I learn about Quanta 5 which I believe is the winner of the session.
Quanta 5 the solution for PTP, with thousands of units deployed over 50 countries, is a fully future proof as it utilizes Octopus SDR (Software Design Radio) platform that allows to update lower and upper layer features via firmware upgrade even with the units operating in the field.
The customer base is looking for solutions between 5-10 Miles and Quanta 5 is exactly what is needed. It comes with an integrated 23dB antenna which takes small space in the tower and thanks to its versatile mounting kit it could even be installed on a wall.
Unleashing Efficiency: How Quanta 5 Achieves Breakthrough Speeds with Less Spectrum
Quanta 5 operates on the 5GHz spectrum which is unlicensed here in the US, and unlicensed does not mean unlimited, as the radio spectrum is an exhaustible resource. There are many places where the airwaves are completely congested by hundreds and even thousands of units, creating massive interference within each other. To deliver high speed often requires to use wider channels, however the more spectrum you want the less chance you get it free of noise. Quanta 5 delivers more than 640 Mbps using 30% less spectrum. To deliver an aggregated 1Gbps using the traditional 1+1 solution you need channels of 160 MHz. Using Quanta 5 over the same channel you can build a system 1+1+1 and can deliver more than 1.8 Gbps, even using the highest modulation scheme as QAM 256.
Quanta 5's significant advantage is to transmit power 8 times higher than other devices, and this means that we can use smaller antennas to provide connectivity over longer distances.
Unlicensed spectrum is always considered to be unreliable and unpredictable, installation sometimes takes too long. Quanta 5 automatically selects the best channel available without human intervention. The installer only needs to point the antenna to the right direction and the build-in software tools will do the rest.
But the situation with the unlicensed spectrum changes specially when someone installs a new radio besides yours, increasing the possibility of creating an unwelcome interference, affecting the normal operation of your link. So this is time consuming for any service provider to continuously monitor and optimize its 5GHz wireless networks, also in situations where the spectrum is already crowded. But things could be completely different if you use Quanta 5, as it will detect the interference sources and change the frequency channel on a blink of an eye, so the links will continue performing the absolute best.
Overcoming Challenges, Delivering More: Quanta 5's Features for Dynamic Spectrum Management
If you are deploying a link you could find yourself in a situation that you simply can not find the frequency channel that is equally noise free in both ends, so at least one of your units will be suffering of interference, but if you use Quanta 5 you can select the downlink and uplink channels individually and they can even dynamically self optimize selecting each of its channels with no downtime at all.
But what Quanta 5 can do on single interference? Other 2x2 systems are just reusing modulation and their overall capacity declines as a result of it. Quanta 5 identifies the most usable modulation scheme not only per each direction but per each polarization too, so your PTP system will use 4 different modulation types at the same time, squeezing to 60% more throughput than any other wireless systems available.
If any of your data gets corrupted while going through the air, Quanta 5 instantly retransmits it and recovers because it supports ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request) avoiding those situations where download speeds are declined or video streams are degraded because of packet loss.
Quanta 5 also can operate in NLOS non-line of sight conditions, connections could go around corners sometimes even 1 mile away with radio signal bouncing from one building to another.
These are the reasons why Quanta 5 is a very flexible and powerful solution that must be considered and tried for every wireless service provider.
