3CX Launches Version 12
What's New and Different?
3CX has officially launched Version 12. The first thing we noticed and loved is the new and much clearer naming convention. The two versions are now called "Standard" and "Professional". The Standard version has all of the features you are accustomed to in the Basic 3CX version. The Professional version, formerly referred to as Call Center, is now even more feature-rich and powerful. Here are the extras the Professional version has above and beyond the Standard version:
- The full Call Center feature set
- Synchronize Microsoft Exchange Server contacts with 3CX Company Directory
- Ability to view presence of remote offices (bridged) on all key sizes. The Standard version of 3CX will no longer support "Presence" information across bridged instances
- More powerful reporting features
- Ability to synchronize 3CX Company Directory with any LDAP service - Coming soon
Another name change is the old Mini, Small Business, Pro & Enterprise names are eliminated; the versions will delineated by "Standard" and "Professional" with the SC call vollume number included. An example would be "Standard 8SC" or "Professional 32SC".
One final name change is "Upgrade Insurance" will now be known as "Maintenance" bringing the naming convention more in line with the industry standard nomenclature.
3CX MyPhone and 3CX Phone are now combined into one application "3CX Phone for Windows". This application combines the chat and presence information along with the softphone capabilities. Version 12 only supports the new 3CX Phone for Windows. All older versions of these applications are obsolete and will no longer function with Version 12. A Version 12 MAC client is in development and will be coming soon. In a similar change, the 3CX phone for iPhone and Android now includes chat and presence information in the mobile applications. These applications must also be updated to the Version 12 releases. Click here for a full comparsion chart of features.
The new Version 12 release expands its provisioning templates for Yealink and Cisco as well. Yealink T4x and Cisco 794x and 796x models now have templates built in Version 12 release for easy configurations.
Version 12 is not fully released in its final form. At the time of release, the multi-tenant solution and hotel models are in development and coming soon. Additionally, the long-awaited "High Availability" solution is also still in development and expected soon as well.
***IMPORTANT ALERT***
All new 3CX keys sold from any outlet are Version 12 only. Some resellers may wish to continue in Version 11 for some period of time and there is a process to accomplish this. Please read this carefully. If you wish for a newly purchased key to be on Version 11, you will proceed with your purchase as normal and at current Version 12 pricing. Once you receive the new key (prior to installation), please contact Ben ben@3cx.com or Brian bc@3cx.com at 3CX and provide them the new key number. They will manually revert the key to Version 11 for you.
