Difference between the Mobotix NPA-Set and NPA-Set-Blue
Recently some customers have asked us if they can use old Mobotix PoE injectors on models ending in 24 (M24, D24, T24, Q24) and if the old PoE injectors will work on models ending in 12 (M12, D12). I hope to clarify this in this document. When Mobotix built their first camera back in 1999, the PoE standard had not been ratified yet. They defined their own structure to provide power over the Ethernet cable. As luck would have it the ratified standard used different pins to provide power than what Mobotix had chosen. Thus the early Models of Mobotix cameras (M1 and M10) will only work with the original non-standard PoE injector, the NPA-Set. When the 12 and 22 models were developed Mobotix built in support for both their non-standard PoE and standard PoE so that they would work with any standard injector or their own non-compliant one. When the 24 models were developed PoE was a ratified standard so Mobotix dropped support for their non-standard PoE and only included support for the ratified standard. Thus the NPA-Set will work with:
(M12, D12, M22, D22, Q22, M10, M1 and D10)
and the NPA-Set-Blue will work with:
(All Mobotix cameras except M1 and M10 as well as any PoE device that meets the PoE ratified standard)
In addition, both models have built in cross-over so that you can plug the camera directly into a computer or into a switch. It is simply a matter of plugging the camera cable into a different side of the injector. The NPA-Set-Blue has also added the ability to take any input from 12-230v so is suitable for any country and designs with Solar, Wind, Battery, etc.
